Pre-season fitness profiling on Mens Rugby 7s SUKMA Johor 2020

This study is to examine the fitness performance for young athletes of JOHOR Men’s Rugby SUKMA 2020. The data aerobic fitness, power, sprint, and agility recorded as fitness performance. Result data were used to monitor the progress of athlete performance in term of fitness. The marker cone, measuring tape, rod stick and stopwatch was used for fitness tests (bleep test, standing broad jump, 40m sprint test and agility T-test). All data recorded into the performance’s form, provided by the researcher to each participant. The results recorded was then transferred into MS Excel for sorting and ranked accordingly. Sixteen (n=16) athletes aged (M= 16.69 ± 0.79) showed height (M=171.84 ± 6.06 cm), weight (M=70.81 ±8.95 kg), standing broad jump (M=2.20± 0.04 metre), 40m sprint (M=5.77 ± 0.09 seconds), agility t-test (M= 8.23 ± 0.61 seconds) and bleep test (M=7.85±0.41 level). Result showed a decline on August test (previous test on January), while it increase occurred on September test. However, this pandemic situation (Covid-19) caused the process of this study could not be continued and longer based periodization, due to Movement Control Order (MCO). The development of fitness is critical for success in sports, and the fitness performance is a key important component to sports performance. Any sport generally compulsory have fitness element for the successful implementation of the necessary skills, game intensity and tactical. Furthermore, fitness test can be made as annual event for strength and conditioning program. Besides, coaches can offer a comprehensive to the development of athletes and team.

Mohamad Hamka Nizam Mohamad Rosni

Mohamad Hamka Nizam Bin Mohamad Rosni is a Physical Education teacher.  He earned his bachelor degree (Coaching Science) and master’s degree in Sports Science from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) and recreationally active as rugby player. Previously, he experienced as fitness trainer at Extreme Sports and Fitness, Kota Damansara (2014 – 2016), Strength and Conditioning Coach for Malaysia 15’s Rugby team (2017), interim Physical Trainer for PKNP FC (2017), and Men Rugby SUKMA Johor (2020). Hamka main task daily is to teach physical education and train student athlete from school rugby team with various age stage. This ‘daily’ process provides him with appropriate understanding and experience in team development and performance. Believes that applied knowledge is the successful exercise program, Hamka currently provide his School of Fit program for community in handling one-on-one personal training sessions as well as group exercise classes. School of Fit also provide a health and wellness consultation in order to share the knowledge for better health and better life.
